Composite Coating |
DEFINITION
Composite (kom-poz'it) adj. 1. A complex material such as wood, metal or plastic, in which two or more distinct, structurally complementary substances combine to produce structural or functional properties not present in any individual component.
NICKEL TEFLON COMPOSITE
The nickel Teflon referred to as EN/PTFE (Electroless Nickel / Polytetrafluoroethylene) that Chor Industries provides is a true composite coating. Composite coatings consist of Niflor* and Enlube* proprietary engineered coatings made of nickel phosphorous alloys and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles, or Teflon*, dispersed evenly throughout.
The nickel phosphorous combination adds hardness which can be further enhanced with heat treating to improve wear resistance. Uniformly dispersed submicron PTFE particles in the coating lend exceptional lubricity through the life of the coating.
BORON NITRIDE COMPOSITE
The Boron Nitride (BN) component consists of uniformly dispersed BN particles in the coating. This extremely hard particle provides a hard surface which enhances the wearability of the component to which it is applied.
This can be applied to a full range of products through an electroless plating process, forming a true composite which retains the benefits of each.
